Theroretical Formation of Translation in China

翻译事业在我国有着悠久的历史。从佛经翻译开始,至今已有1700多年。我国翻译理论的形成,大致经历了四个阶段:东汉到唐宋的佛经翻译阶段、明末清初的科技翻译、鸦片战争至“五四”的西学翻译,以及五四运动至新中国成立后掀起的第四次翻译高潮。经过无数前辈翻译家的探索与实践,已形成了我国独具特色的翻译理论系统。

The translation business has a very long history in our country. It has been more than 1700 years since Buddlist Sutra translation began. There are four periods in the theoretical formation of translation: the period of Buddlist Sutra translation is from the East Han Dynasty to Song Dynasty. The scientific translation at the late of Ming Dynasty and the early of Qing Dynasty. The translation of westen study is from the Opium war to the 'WuSi' movement. And the fourth translation climax is from the 'WuSi' movement to the hereafter of new China establishes. Now the translation theory has become a system with our country' s unique features after the investigation and practice of numerous translators.
