戴表元一生适逢时代巨变、江山易主,其的后半生也基本上是在隐居、交游与授徒的中度过的。其诗歌创作中也透露出浓厚的隐逸情怀。隐逸,是对人生的看透,但同时也反映了他在时代旋涡面前的逃避心态。戴表元之隐,与交游紧密结合,把隐逸看成是一种文人的风雅之举,因此又不得不为生计奔走以寻求物质保证。

Daibiaoyuan lives in the particular period just when the entire historical epoch takes great changes, i.e. state power replaces, and he spends his latter half of ife in recluse-being, friend-making and lession-giving,and then his poems reveal a strong reclusive sentimensts. Reclusion means both his deep insight of the whold meanings of life and his escape from the vortex of his times. Daibiaoyuan, combining tightly with his friend-making, regards reclusion as a kind of literary pursuits, but he at last has to pursuit substaintial liveilihood for being exist.
