摘要 Contradictions and harmony are two opposite states believed by ancient Chinese philosophers to coexist and complement one another. They are present in all aspects of human existence, not least within economic and social life. A current example is China's rapid economic growth in the face of its disadvantaged communities' deteriorating situation. During this year's top political gatherings - the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference - the focus was on building a fair society and narrowing the yawning gap between the rich and the poor.
