Expression of MMP-7 in Esophageal Carcinoma and Clinical Significance

目的 探讨MMP 7表达与食管癌生物学行为的关系。方法 采用免疫组化SABC法检测MMP -7在食管鳞癌中的表达。结果 在正常食管鳞状细胞MMP -7呈阴性表达;在食管癌组织中主要表达于癌细胞膜和胞质中,间质细胞中无表达,在食管癌中共阳性表达率为43 .4% (3 3 / 76) ;MMP 7表达与食管癌淋巴结转移、临床分期、静脉侵犯和浸润深度有关(P <0 .0 5 ) ;与性别、年龄、病理类型、病理分化无关(P >0 .0 5 )。结论 MMP- 7在食管鳞癌进展中有重要作用,可能是1个独立预后指标。常规检测其在食管鳞癌中的表达,有助于食管癌治疗和预后的判断。

Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of MMP-7 and biologic behavior in esophageal carcinoma.Methods Immunohistochemical SABC method was used to detect expression of MMP-7 in esophageal squamous cell carcinomas.Results The normal esophageal squamous epithelium showed MMP-7-negative expression.MMP-7 was expressed in 43.4%(33/76) of tumor,mainly in cytoplasm and membrane of tumor cell,not in stromal cells.The expression of MMP-7 was associated with lymph node metastasis(P=0.02),clinical stage(P=0.006),venous invasion(P=0.003),and infiltration depth(P= 0.006),but was not associated with gender,age,pathological classification,and histological grade(P>0.05).Conclusion Our results suggest that MMP-7 expression may play a pivot role in the progression of esophageal carcinoma and serve as an independent factor of prognosis.Routine detection MMP-7 expression may be useful for the prediction of treatment and prognosis in esophageal carcinoma.
