汉英议论文论据选取的对比研究

A Contrastive Study of the Choice of Evidence in Chinese and English Argumentative Essays

本文首先概述中国传统人治思想文化和西方传统法治思想文化,然后讨论在这两种思想文化的深刻影响下汉英议论文在论证中心论点时进行论据选取的不同特点.汉语议论文较多应用人证论据,即偏向于选取名人言论、事例以及经典作论据,并且类比的应用也比较多;英语议论文较多选取法证论据,即偏向于引用普通人的言论,既重视名人的事例又重视普通人的事例,也较多应用数字事实.

This paper sums up the traditional and ideological cultures of China's rule of man and Western rule by law, and then discusses the distinctive features of the choice of evidence to support the central arguments in Chinese and English argumentative essays, which are under the profound influence of the above-mentioned ideological cultures. In Chinese argumentative essays, more persuasion via celebrities’ quotations is applied, that is, celebrities’ quotations, anecdotes about them, classics, and analogy are more often chosen as evidence; in English argumentative essays, more illustration via facts is used, that is, the ordinary people’s words, anecdotes about them and celebrities, and numerical facts are more frequently employed as evidence.
