Feng Meng-lung was an outstanding writer in Ming Dynasty, a best known compiler of anthologies of popular literature. His works, the San Yan Collections of Stories including Yu Shi Ming Yan, Jing Shi Tong Yan and Xing Shi Heng Yan, has had great impact on literature writing of later generations. The paper probes into his theory on stories according to the compiling of the San Yan Collections of stories and its preface.
