On Helin and Wulun Ideas

贺麟是我国20世纪杰出的哲学家和著名的学者,他对儒家文化中的五伦观念抱以深切的欣赏、善意的理解和强烈的同情,主张从中发掘出不可毁灭的永恒性的观念因素,保持其精华,把握其真精神,给予新的阐释和发挥,使之不断吸收新营养,焕发出活力,成为新的儒家文化,从而真正适应现代社会进步与发展的新要求。

As a prominent philosopher and famous scholar of China in the twentieth century, Helin took an attitude of appreciation, understanding and sympathy toward the Wulun Ideas of the Confucian culture. He initiated that we should dig out the immortal and eternal notion factors from the culture of our race, keep its essence and hold its true spirit, and endow it with fresh interpretation and put it into full play, in order to inject constantly the new nourishment and vitality into it, and make it the new Confucian culture to meet the new demand of progress and development of society.
