摘要 现代大学发展的要义是不断提升自己的核心竞争力。这实际是一个将学校发展的潜力转换为实绩的过程,是不断增强自身的比较优势、创新能力和对办学流动要素的吸引力的过程。大学的核心竞争力主要由三方面构成,即学科实力(学科水平和学科特色)、师资水准,以及大学的精神气质和组织文化。创建伊始的南通大学毫无疑问应当加强学科建设和师资队伍建设,同时,大学精神的凝聚和组织文化的营造,也应当提上学校领导的议事日程,应当引起师生员工的共同关注。因为,大学的精神气质和组织文化,正是大学核心竞争力的重要组成部分。一所大学办学理念的形成、精神气质的形成,要日积月累,薪火相传,决非一日之功。它既非执掌校政者心血来潮的结果,也不是文人秀才妙笔生花的产物。大学精神的凝聚和气质的改变,往往有其十分关键的时期和十分关键的人物。校长和书记的倡导和身体力行非常重要,而教授和学者学问、人品的影响也不可低估。 The most importance of the development of modern university is to gradually improve their key competitiveness which is also a process of transferring the poetical ability of development into practical achievements and increasing their comparison advantages the ability of creation and the attraction of changing factors for running schools. The key competitiveness is consisted of three sides which are science strength level and characteristic of science level of teachers and the spirit temperament and organizational culture of universities. The newly run Nantong University should out of question strengthen the establishment of subjects and teachers at the same time it should also catch the attention of teachers and students that the cohesion of university spirit and the creation of organizational culture. It cannot success in a very short time to form a management concept and spirit temperament so efforts should be done over a long period. It is very important for the presidents and directors of universities to initiative and practice themselves. And it cannot be lowly estimated that the knowledge and quality of professors and scholors.
