Ocean cobalt-rich crusts contain abundant strategic metal cobalt which is short on land and the demand on cobalt of the world, especially of the developed countries is on the rise. Therefore, many countries have switched their attention to the exploitation of ocean cobalt-rich crusts. The related investigation and exploitation made by Germany, American, Japan, the Republic of Korea and China are described.
