在程朱理学被定为官学的情况下,虞集是一位比较通达的理学家。作为朱学传人,他对程朱以外的其他理学派别和儒家以外的诸家学说均取兼收并蓄的态度。其理学思想虽无太大创见,客观上却顺应并体现了元代文化思潮的发展趋势,并对当时的思想界产生了一定的影响。

Yu Ji was a more sensible thinker of the Yuan Dynasty since Neo - Confucianism had long been established as the official doctrine. Being a disciple of Zhu xi, he took in all other idealist Confucian theories than that of Cheng Yi and Zhu xi, and all other schools of thought than Confucianism. Though he had not many original ideas, his thought conformed to and embodied the tendency of cultural development of the Yuan Dynasty, and exerted certain influence on the thinkers of that time.
