Worship of Authority and Human Nature

摘要 Authority is a cultural phenomenon that by its nature implies social relations between individuals. At the heart of authority is power-holders' maximization of their own interests by virtue of their ruling positions. In ancient society based on the small-scale peasant economy, the concept of authority worship was unavoidable. It is rooted in the premise that man is by nature evil and hence needs the awe-inspiring powers of authority. A highly developed cult of authority exerts enormous influence on and seriously distorts human nature. But the authority cult was not the only ideology in feudal society;
