The philosophical ideologies of Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping share some similarities and also bear some differences. The similarities are that they both have carried on and developed the Marxist viewpoint of practice, implemented materialist dialectics in practice, and emphasized the predicting nature of thinking. Their differences are apparent as Mao emphasized the contradictory struggle while Deng stressed its identity; and Mao was romantic while Deng was practical.
