Be Realistic and Practical about Ziyun

扬雄为西汉时川籍著名学者、辞赋家。明以后,其身价一落千丈。论文以史料为据,论证了扬雄事王莽之说之不足据,为扬雄在政治上平反。论文又以后人大量赞美扬雄的诗文,对扬雄在历史上的地位,作出合理的评价。

Yang Xiong who styled himself Ziyun was a well-known scholar and poet in Sichuan in the Xihan Dynasty. However, his fame suffered a disastrous decline after the Ming Dynasty. The paper argues for Yang Xiong by demonstrating plenty of historical records. It also reveals a lot of praising poems written by younger generations, and rationally analyzes Yang Xiong's historical position.
