High-precision zircon SHRIMP U-Pb dating of K-rich granites in Sonid Zuoqi, Inner Mongolia, yielded crystallization ages of 423±8 Ma and 424±10 Ma. In relation to previous regional data, the ages represent the timing of the Silurian arc-continent collision event in the central Inner Mongolia.
