Lu Bu-wei and His Family in the Light of Confucian School

吕不韦是中国历史上的一个奇人,他的谋略和口才都是中国历史人物中第一流的。他以独特的商人眼光,以异人为"奇货",凭着一人之力、三寸不烂之舌,获得了"泽可以遗世之利"的资本,并有计划地使赵姬有身而献于异人,为加强与秦王室的关系奠定基础,最终促成了自己的荣华富贵。这一系列之手段,与其后来所编的《吕氏春秋》极为不符,最终导致自杀身亡。究其原因,乃齐家失败所致。

Lu Bu-wei, well-known in Chinese history, was famous for his resourceful strategies and rare eloquence. By his remarkable insight as a businessman, his own special ability and silver tongue, he accumulated vast wealth. He made Zhao Ji pregnant and presented her to Yi Ren, thus laying a solid foundation in strengthening the relation with Qin imperial court and bringing him high position and great wealth. All what he had done was quite different with what was written in the book—Lu Shi Chun Qiu. Later on, he committed suicide. This also contributed his family's downfall.
