翻译视角下的习语文化差异探究

On the Cultural Differences of English and Chinese Idioms

语言是文化的载体,习语是语言的核心和精华,承载着丰富的文化内涵,英汉习语因此存在着巨大的文化差异。从生存环境、历史背景、风俗习惯、宗教信仰四个方面分析了产生英汉习语文化差异的根源,旨在帮助译界朋友们对习语这一典型文化现象有着更进一步的认识,从而在翻译实践中得心应手地做好习语的转换工作。

Culture is expressed through language. Idioms,being a part of the language,are its core and essence. Therefore,idioms carry plentiful cultural connotations. English and Chinese idioms share a great deal of cultural differences. This paper analyzes six factors which contribute to these cultural differences,eg circumstances,histories,customs and habits,etc.The purpose of that is to help the translators to have a better understanding with the idioms and to do a better job during idioms’ translation.
