Japanese Continent Policy、Russian Fareast Policy with the Northeast Region of China

中国东北地区南接朝鲜,北临俄国,东南与日本隔海相望,战略位置极其重要,历来是远东矛盾的焦点。19世纪中期以来,日俄两国围绕大陆政策与远东政策在此展开日益激烈的争夺:随着西伯利亚铁路的修建,俄国施行一系列进攻性的政策、方针,致使双方矛盾急剧升级,为争夺中国东北最终走向战争。战后,出于各自侵略利益考虑,日俄由对抗走向勾结,共同瓜分中国东北。

Being north to North Korea, south to Russia, and northwest to Japan Sea, the northeast region of China was of great strategic importance, and had been the focus of conflicts in Fareast. Since the middle 19th century, Japan with its continent policy, and Russia with its Fareast policy, had been contesting for this region enthusiastically. After the Siberian railway was finished, Russia worked out a series of aggressive policies, and updated the antagonism between two nations, which finally led to war. After the war, the relation between Japan and Russia transformed from antagonism to cooperation, which best fitted the interests of both nations.
