The concept of product variant design based on top basic skeleton mode was introduced. Based on the threedimension parametric modeling softwarePro/ENGINEER, with a practical design casemobile telephone design, the approach and the implement of variant design around the TBS mode were discussed in the process using topdown assemble mode based on the digital technology. The approach can improve the efficiency of variant design.
