Mechanism and Prospect for the Development of Special Libraries by Means of Competitive Information Service

分析专门图书馆开展竞争情报服务的必然性和可行性;考察国内外专门图书馆开展竞争情报服务的现状和定位,指出数字网络化环境下,开展竞争情报服务是专门图书馆提高其知识服务水平及其核心竞争力的业务增长点和创新亮点;介绍中国科学院文献情报中心开展学科与科技竞争情报服务的新动向。

According to the specialties and function of special libraries, it is necessary to develop competitive information (CI) services. This paper reviews the status quo and orientation of CI services in special libraries at home and abroad, and holds that under the digital and net-based environment, CI service is an innovation for special libraries to provide knowledge services and to improve their core competitive abilities. Some new pulses for subject information and sci-tech CI services carried out in DICCAS (i. e. Library of CAS) are particularly introduced in this paper.
