Background, basic conception and basic theory frame of earthquake resistance design of building structure were briefly introduced, based on performance. And analytical method of performance design was discussed. The trend in development of earthquake resistance design theory was stated, with structural performance clearly, fully quantized and the need met by designing. The problem that needs to be solved was suggested.
