Cooperation between Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine Must Depart from Integrating the Two Systems

中、西医是两种不同的医学科学体系,相互的研究对象和研究方法不同,所形成的概念(范畴)体系相互不可通约、不可翻译。近半个世纪以来,由机械唯物主义和近代科学主义、民族虚无主义和简单化的哲学代替论、主观愿望和长官意志演变而来的"中西医结合",使中医在长期的"西化"中走向了衰落。"中西医配合"的主旨是:在科学理论层面上并重共存,在临床技术层面上优势互补,在临床经验层面上相互借鉴;"配合"由中、西医工作者共同投入,以提高疗效、服务病人为目的,相互尊重、发挥优势、坦诚合作;要充分理解,"配合"将是相当长时期内的临床实践过程。当前最重要的战略重心是:重树中医的科学信念,重拾中医的科学地位,为实现"中西医配合"奠定基础。

The Chinese Medicine (CM) and Western Medicine (WM) are two totally different medical science systems, which have different research methods and different research targets. The concepts of CM and WM are incommensurable and uninterchangeable to each other. In the recent half century, the concept of 'integrating CM and WM' was derived from the mechanical materialism, the modern scientism, the ethnic nihilism, the simplified philosophical substitution, and was based on the subjective and leaders' wishes. It has led to the CM decaying in a long-term westernization. The aim of CM and WM cooperation is to coexist at the scientific theoretical level, to supplement each other in the clinical practice, and to learn from each other in clinical experience. In order to serve patients with the best curative effects, the 'cooperation' should be achieved by the combined efforts from both doctors in CM and WM, and by respecting each other, sincere cooperation and taking advantages from both sides. We should completely comprehend that the 'cooperation' will be a clinical practice process in a long term. The current foremost strategic target is to rebuild the scientific faith of CM and re-establish the scientific status of CM in order to form the foundation for the true cooperation of the CM and WM.
