<Abstrcat> In contrastive studies between English and Chinese, one of the most important aspects is the hypotaxis typical of English and parataxis typical of Chinese. Here the author illustrates such a difference through the contrastive study of connective words, word sequences, ellipsis of subject and the words in a poem. This study has great significance on translation and composition in a foreign language.
