引文索引不同于一般意义上的索引,它具有独特的功能与形式。在编制原理、体例结构和检索方法上与常规的索引不一样。我们可以利用引文索引查出相关的所需文献后,再利用这些文献的引文查找一批新的文献,了解引文源对目标文献的影响,研究新旧文献在该领域的学术价值贡献以及动态。
