Understanding and Cycle

解释学循环本质上不是形式逻辑意义上的循环论证,而属于辩证法的矛盾,体现了理解过程中的辩证法,理解是一个发展的、开放的过程;解释学循环决定了理解的根本性质是相对的,但相对的理解中就已经包含着绝对的成分,理解的性质是绝对性与相对性的辨证统一。

Essentially, the cycle of explanatology is not an argument in a circle of formal logic, but a dialectical contradiction. It embodies dialectics in the process of understanding, which is an on-going and open process. The cycle of explanatology demonstrates that understanding is relative in its basic sense, but the relative understanding contains the absolute element. Understanding is a dialectical unity of the absolute and the relative.
