Four Questions Concerning WenXuan

《文选》“难”本独立为类,“临终”本“诗”之子类;《古今诗苑英华》的“犹有遗恨”,指其未能达到“集其清英”的目的与体例上不像后来的《文选》那样兼收其它文体;《文选》不再收何逊诗乃因其分量比《古今诗苑英华》少了三分之二的缘故,这与刘孝绰的“忌避”和《文选》的体例如何无关;以《头陀寺碑文》之得入《文选》为刘孝绰“有意图的徇私情”一说,是断不能成立的。

Nan in WenXuan should be an independent catalogue and the Deathbed should be an other independent smaller catalogue. The 'still have some regrets' in The Best Poems at all times means in failed to collect all the best and didn't take in other styles in the late WenXuan. As its weight was reduced two third, WenXuan didn't collect the poems of He Xun, which had nothing to deal with Liu Xiao-chuo's avoidance and the style of WenXuan. It's impossible tenable for Liu Xiaochuo select the TOUTUOSIBEIWEN into WenXuan is for the personal sentiments.
