Cai Yuan-pei’s Concept on Building the Nation with Education and Human Character Development

作为中国现代教育思想的奠基人,蔡元培先生“教育救国”、“教育立国”、“政教分离”的主张,在国人愚顽、专制横行的近代中国,起着振聋发聩的作用。其培养健全人格的教育理念,不仅使中国教育界从此有了明确、全面、和谐发展的教育理论,而且包含了现代教育理论提出的和谐、全面发展的重要内容,触摸到今人以全面提高人的综合素质为目的的素质教育的有关内容。

As the founder of China's modern educational theories,Mr.Cai put forward the ideas“Save the nation with education”,“Build the nation with education”and“Separate politics from education”.These ideas played an important role in his time. His ideas on human character development served as the guideline for China's educational theories which covered the major content of balanced and all-round development of modern times and threw light on personal quality education.
