Ironic Speech Acts as Reflected in Conversations in English Novels:with Pride and Prejudice as a Case Study

以奥斯丁(JL.Austin)的言语行为理论为框架,依据瑟尔(Searle)等对反讽类言语行为的五大分类,分析《傲慢与偏见》小说人物对白中的反讽言语行为,并揭示这些反讽言语行为对小说人物之间的交流和人物性格的塑造所起的作用。

Based upon the framework of JL. Austin's speech act theory and Searle's categorizations of five ironic speech acts, this paper makes analysis of ironic speech acts in conversations in Pride and Prejudice.The research reveals that these ironic speech acts help to create the personality of the characters, and play a significant role in facilitating the communication among the characters,between the narrator and the readers.
