The Late Ming Dynasty Crisis and the Increase in Criticism in Vernacular Short Stories

晚明时期,社会各种矛盾日益激化,各种弊端日益深重,出现了严重的社会危机。对此,许多知识分子在寻求救世良药的同时,也对造成危机的各种社会弊端、黑暗及不合理现象产生激愤痛恨的心理,从而增强了他们对现实的批判意识。这种批判意识也表现在文学创作中,以《西湖二集》、《型世言》等为代表的晚明白话短篇小说在对最高统治者、下层官府、科举制度、社会世风等方面的批判上,较以往作品表现出鲜明而强烈的批判意识。

During the later period of the Ming Dynasty,all kinds of social contradiction became more acute,which led to a serious social crisis.Many intellectuals chased the method to deal with it and criticized the reality at the same time.This criticism was also expressed in literary works.The representative works were “XI HU ER JI”,“XING SHI YAN” ,etc,which expressed more vivid critical consciousness than before.
