We studied the effects of angiotensinon the contraction of aorta in intact and
anoxic guineapigs, and found that angiotensin Ⅰ(AngⅠ)andangiotensinⅡ(Ang Ⅱ)3300
nmol·L-1 significantly increased the contraction of the aorta andshowed a dose dependent
manner After anoxia,thecontraction of the aorta induced by angiotensin wasmarkedly increased
as compared with the un anoxicgroup.However, when the endothelium of vessels
wasdamaged, the contraction of the aorta induced byAngⅠalmost disappeared,Although Ang Ⅱ
broughtabout the adortic contrdction after the endothelium hadbeen damaged,the contractile
potency was obviouslydecreased.Thecontractile duration of the aorta causedbyAng Ⅱ was
prolongcd more in the damagedendothelium group than in the intact endotheliumgroup. There
is no difference between intact andanoxic groups in the contraction induced by Ang Ⅱ.The
resultS indicate that anoxia increases the contrac-tion of the guinea pig aorta induced by
angiotensinwhichmavbear no re1ation to theactivity of theendogenous angiotensin system and
yet depend on theendothelium of vessels.
