张爱玲的小说作品,大多是写情说爱的,写到了人的正常的正当的要求,但是张爱玲的笔力却主要不是放在这个方面,她主要是写这种情和爱在沪港洋场社会、现代殖民都会的现实遭际和历史命运,即写出了人本要求在那不合理的畸形社会的经历和结果。张爱玲擅写两性关系、家庭关系,但恰恰在这两个“爱”的浓度最高的范畴内,在沪港洋场社会、现代殖民都会的君临和威压下,正常的情与爱发生了变异。

It is true that Zhang Ai-ling's novels are about love and kinship, the normal requirement and rightful necessity of people. However, her focus is not on love itself but on the experience and result of the human-centered need of lo ve in the darkness of the deformed and unfair society. Zhang is expert in descri bing the relation between man and woman, and the relation among family members, but in those days the normal love and kinship become variant.
