The soft sensing technique for sewage treatment provides an approach to measure BOD_5 or COD which are difficult to get on line, it sloves the optimum control and on-line prediction. Using it we can closely control the sewage treatment, so improve the efficiency of sewage treatment. The article gives the concept of soft measurement, methods of designing the soft sensor models and its'application in wastewater treatment.
