<Abstrcat> This paper tells the development of libraries and information institutes in the 21st century, as well as the status and roles and features of their knowledge navigation. It suggests that offering gateways to web resources is a leading feature of the time, recommending works of excellence is a major task of knowledge dissemination, reading guidance is a main channel of knowledge delivery, reading inclination tracing and survey in effective ways are to accessing and analyzing knowledge and mass reading activity is the social base of knowledge communication.
