The Unity of Translatability and Untranslatability

可译性和不可译性不是泛指两种语言之间能否相互传译的问题,指的乃是译文确切性的程度问题。可译性和不可译性是一对相对的而不是绝对的概念,它们虽对立却统一,因为它们同时存在于一个文本,它们都体现着语言的基本功能,它们是可以变化发展的。

<Abstrcat>Translatability and un-translatability refer to the extent to which a translation is close to the original text, rather than the possibility to translate a certain text. Translatability and un-translatability, as the result of the language functions, co-exist in the same text. Any text as a whole is translatable while there are parts untranslatable. It is the translatability that makes it possible to translate a text and the un-translatability that makes it necessary to translate a text.
