The Development of the West of America

美国西部开发始于19世纪中期,其特点是实行优惠的土地政策,对教育的高度重视,大力发展交通运输和城市建设等。美国对西部的开发具有长远目标,充分利用了后发优势,因地制宜发展出各具特色的经济区。之后,美国真正成为一个幅员辽阔的现代意义上的经济大国和强国。

The development of the west of America began in the mid-19th century. The characters of this process included preferential land policy, attaching highly importance to education, development of city transport as well as construction and so forth. For its long-term goal of development, America took full use of its advantages which is deriving from its late-development, and formed various economy areas according to their own conditions. As a result, America transformed into a modern developed and powerful country which owns large lands and a modern economic system.
