On Zhu Xi's 'Credit'

“信”是中国伦理思想的一个重要范畴。朱熹在探讨“信”、“诚”、“忠”的基础上,分析了“信”的内涵,论述了信在为人、交友、治国等方面的价值,并指出通过“体信”、“言行相顾”等途径达于“信”,实现对“天之道”真实无妄的追求。

Credit' is an important category in Chinese ethics. On the basis of his views on credit, sincerityand loyalty, Zhu Xi defined the connotation of 'credit' and elaborated the importance of credit in behaving,keeping social relations and state administration. He proposed that credit realization was possible by way ofcredit behaving, matching words with deeds and so on -a way of authentic pursuit to the Heaven's way.
