今年是中国人民抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利60周年,我们今天为在60年前这场战争的伟大胜利而举行各种纪念和庆祝活动,并不是要算60年前的旧帐,而是要牢记60年前的血泪教训,自救图强,和平崛起,以免60年前的历史悲剧重演。

This year is the 60th Anniversary of the Victory in Anti-Japanese War and Anti-Fascist War.The reason why we hold various activities to honor and celebrate the occasion is not that we intend to settle the old scores that happened 60 years ago, but that we must bear in mind the bloody lessons that occurred 60 years ago so that we will save and strengthen ourselves and rise in peace lest the historical tragedies that happened 60 years ago might reoccur.
