On English Reading Skills

阅读是理解书面文字意义的一种行为。对阅读材料的正确理解在很大程度上取决于阅读技能。文章阐明阅读在语言学习中的重要作用,并结合阅读材料介绍具体阅读技能,提出组织课堂阅读教学的步骤。

Reading is the action of a person who goes through written or printed words to understand the meaning of the reading texts. Students' understanding of reading materials depend to a large extent on their expertise in these specific skills---predictive skills, extracting specific information, getting the main idea and deducing meaning. This paper is divided into three parts.Part A: Theory, concerned with the importance of reading. Part B: Practice, use of the specific skills outlined in part A. Part C: teaching of English reading skills discussed in the first two parts.
