Importance of electrode shell making and jointing to sealed calcium carbide furnace is introduced. Some problems in electrode shell making and jointing procedures are analyzed, such as nip welding, jointed welding, upper and down nip welding to find out quality factors and improvement methods. After the innovation, qualification is raised from 93% to 98% to ensure normal production of calcium carbide furnace, attaining good economic benefits.
