The paper argues that the flow of thinking of the strategists in the Period of Warring States is essentially analogical to the flow of water as envisaged in traditional Chinese culture. On the one hand, they are marked for being compatible and flexible. On the other hand, they are also noted for their underlying dynamics and strength. With regards to the flow of thinking of the strategists during the Period of Warring States, it is much likened to a rushing stream breaking forth out of a gap of triple suppression from the era of wars, its consequent material and mental pressures. It is prominent for its radical coordination, changes and extension, aimed at control of personal wills in the world of tensions, and is regarded as an outstanding case of Chinese ancient stratagems.
