A Rustic Opinion of the Development of Translation Schools

翻译是一种艰巨复杂的活动,现代翻译学就是以现代语言学理论为基础,广泛吸纳各有关学科,从理论上科学总结前人长期以来翻译活动的经验教训,从中探索翻译规律。古今中外各种翻译理论之间有着千丝万缕的联系,它们既互相矛盾,又互相继承,取长补短,不断发展。本文拟抓住语言学理论这根主线,梳理出各翻译流派之间的关系,探索翻译学发展的规律。

Translation is arduous and complicated activity. It is difficult for us to sum up a comprehensive theory on translation. Modern translation based on the theories of modern linguistics absorbs concerning sub- jeets. It sums up the experience of former translators theoretically and seeks rules for translation. Therefore, it is obvious that various theories on translations are linked by one another to some extent. They have not only contradicted one another but also inherited one another. They have learned from one another's strong points and offset their weaknesses. They have developed continuously. The paper focusing on the main line of linguistics analyzes the relationship among the schools of translation and seeks the developing rules of translation.
