主位推进和主题推进是语篇连贯性分析的两种不同方法,主要用于呈现篇章结构的框架。它们既有共同性,又有差异性。其共同性主要在于它们具有共同的使用目的及类似的推进模式。其差异性主要在于两种分法的基本分析单位不同及分析侧重点不同。在分析语篇时,应根据不同目的恰当运用。

The thematic progression and the topic progression are two methods which are designed for analysis of textual coherence. They have both similarities and dissimilarities. Their similarities lie mainly in their common purpose-to reveal the framework of a discourse-and similar progression patterns; their dissimilarities lie mainly in the different units on which the analysis is based for the two kinds of progression, and their different focuses, with one on the starting points of sentence messages and the other on the sentence topics.
