Many petrochemical pipe ducts with metal bellow compensators were damaged or broken down during the pressure tests or the first time operation. The main cause of these damages is due to the improper calculation and lectotype during the design phase. We elaborate the computation procedure of pipe ducts in this article based upon our profound experiences of designing the petrochemical pipe racks, and give a suggestion how to choose a proper type of metal bellow compensator.
