Uncertainty About Survival and Confusion of Value:A Study on the Paradox of Gao Jialin's Outlook of Life

在高加林身上,体现出改革开放初期的乡村知识青年内心的普遍矛盾———精神与实在的矛盾。这种矛盾集中地体现在残酷落后但又朴实的现实境遇与祈望追寻现代文明生活的精神追求之间的纠缠不清的冲突,展现出人物的行为价值取向与现实生存际遇之间的矛盾所引起的灵魂的搏斗。本文试图从生存和爱情两方面来探讨高加林人物中潜藏着的这一对矛盾,并试图从人的三重生命的角度分析造成高加林悲剧的原因。

In Lu Yaos novel Life ,Gao Jialin is a leading figure showing the contradiction of spirit and reality-some universal conflicting emotions in the heart of hearts of the rural educated youth.Such emotions,a concentrated expression of the conflicts between the backward and undeveloped but sincere and honest circumstances and their mental pursuit of modern civilization,manifest the spiritual struggle caused by the conflict of their orientation of value and their realistic lots.This paper attempts to make a discussion from love and subsistence on such a potential mental struggle in the character of Gao Jialin and from the triple life on the contributing factors of his miserable lot.
