科学发展观同毛泽东、邓小平、江泽民同志关于发展的思想是一脉相承的,是与时俱进的马克思主义发展观。它与“三个代表”重要思想关于发展的思想的内在联系首先体现在它们有共同的理论基础和指导思想,都坚持了马克思主义认识论和唯物史观,坚持了解放思想、实事求是、与时俱进的指导思想。更主要的体现在发展问题上的内在联系,在要发展问题上坚持理论与实际的统一;在为什么发展问题上坚持发展的本质与发展目的统一;在怎样发展问题上坚持继承与发展的统一。

Scientific development view comes down in a continuous line with Mao Zedong's, Deng Xiaoping's, and Jiang Zemin's thoughts about development, and it is a Marxist view for development that keeps pace with the times. The inherent link of the scientific development view and the important thought of 'Three Represents' is embodied in that they both have common theoretical foundation and guidelines at first, in that they both adhere to the Marxism epistemology and materialist conception of history, and in that they both insist on the guidelines that emancipate the mind, seek truth from facts, and keep pace with the times. What’s more, the inherent link on developing is better embodied in that they both adhere to the unity between theory and reality in terms of development, in that they both insist on the unity between the essence of development and the purpose of development in terms of development issue, in that they both insist on the unity between inheritance and developing in terms of the ways of development.
