试论语篇特征对汉译英中主语确定的影响

Guidance of Text Features on Determination of Subjects in Chinese-English Translation

语篇翻译观认为 ,翻译活动是原语语篇与目的语语篇之间的跨文化转换 ,翻译各层级的操作都应在语篇的指导下进行。由于英语句子的主语和汉语句子的话题(主语)的差别不仅表现在句法、语义上 ,而且表现在组句成篇的功能上 ,汉译英中主语的确定就要与英语的语篇构建联系在一起。以语篇翻译观为指导 ,从语篇的省略衔接、语篇的意向性及语篇的推进模式三方面论述了语篇特征对汉译英中主语确定的影响。

Text translation approach reveals that translation is an intercultural transfer from the source text to the target one,in which translating at and belowthe level of sentence is guided by the wholeness of the text.Accordingly,in Chinese-English translation,considering the syntactic,semantic and textural difference beˉtween Chinese topics and English subjects,one has to determine subjects with latitude at the level of text with a viewto English text construction so as to guarantee the target language readers’acceptance of the translation.Based on text translation approach,this paper tries to deal with guidance of text features in terms of ellipsis,intentionality and theme-rheme progression on determination of subjects in Chinese-English translation.
