In this article, the author studies the criteria of traditional translation and also deals with the translation practices of practical English with an attempt to show that traditional translation theory has instructive effect on the translation of practical English. He also advocats that there is urgent needs to develop criteria regarding the translation of practical English on the basis of traditional translation criteria so as to perfect the theory of the translation of practical English. In this way, better developments can be made in the practices.
