The Role of Western Environmental Ethics in Non-Western Countries: West Meets East

文章追溯了西方环境伦理学在西方近代自然诗、风景画、景观园林和博物学中的起源,指出西方环境伦理学对于非西方国家的借鉴作用,但非西方国家不必照搬西方环境伦理学中那些有争议的概念,而必须从自己的传统研究环境伦理学。

This paper traces the origin of Western environmental ethics in modern Western landscape painting, landscape garden, nature poetry and prose, and the natural history science, and holds that the Western environmental ethics could be a staring point for non-western countries, but non-western countries should avoid those problematic concepts in the Western environmental ethics, and develop ethics compatible with their own cultural traditions.
