洋务派主张效法西方,学习他们的先进技艺,增强清朝的军事和经济实力,以便平内乱、御外侮,确保封建统治。在“中学为体,西学为用”的思想指导下,开展了历时30多年的洋务运动,在人才的引进、培养、选拔、使用方面做了大量的工作,为近代科学技术的发展做出了贡献。

The Westernization Group advocated imitating the West,learning their advanced techniques,strengthening the actual strength of the Qing Dynasty's military and economy in order to put down the civil war,resist foreign aggression and ensure the feudal system.They developed the Westernization Group that lasted thirty years with the thought of “make Chinese things the princial part,make foreign things serve china”.They did a great deal of work at the talent's recommending,training selecting and using contributed to the development of recent science and technology.
