戊戌变法中维新派的激进与保守——浅析戊戌变法失败的原因

An Analysis of Causes for Failure in the Reform Movement of 1898

戊戌变法是中国社会在鸦片战争结束近六十年之后,第一次深刻的、涉及到社会各个方面的大变革。然而,这场本应是顺乎天意民愿的变法最终以失败而结束。文章通过分析维新派在变法过程中激进与保守的表现,使我们能全面地认识戊戌变法失败的原因。

The Reform Movement of 1898, the first profound and great reform involving all strata in Chinese society nearly sixty years after the Opium War, ended up in failure despite its compliance with the will of Heaven and of the people. By analyzing the radical and conservative behaviors of the reformists in the process of reform, this paper attempts to elucidate thoroughly the causes for failure in the Reform Movement of 1898.
