The competence system in cross-cultural communication

解决跨文化交际语用失误的核心问题在于提高交际者的跨文化交际能力,构建科学的跨文化交际能力系统,这是减少或预防语用失误、形成有效跨文化交际模式的基本条件。语言能力是交际能力的基础,没有语言能力,交际能力就会成为无本之木、无源之水,但具备了语言能力,并不等于具备了交际能力。跨文化交际的能力系统主要包括基本交际能力系统、情感和关系能力系统、情节能力系统、策略能力系统等。

The key to the problem of speech errors in cross-cultural communication lies in the development of the communicator’s cross-cultural communicative competence and construction of systematic competence system. This is the fundamental for lessening or preventing speech errors, and developing effective cross-cultural format. Linguistic competence is the foundation of communicative competence. Communicative competence will become groundless without linguistic competence. However, having linguistic competence does not mean you also have communicative competence.
